Turkey Army

Its Thanksgiving Time!!!

and what better way to commemorate this festive time of year -

than by creating an army of delectable turkey arts & crafts treats.

Chocolate-covered cherry, Chocolate graham cracker, Fudge-stripe cookie, candy corn, candy pumpkin - glued together by chocolate icing.

It really is no wonder the second half of all these pictures are blurry - the poor kids were running like hummingbirds by the time craft time was done.

Note to friends & family:

if you find yourself at the receiving end of one or more of our turkeys -

Please rest at ease - the turkey you hold in your hand is one that I made..

Not that the kids didn't make WONDERFUL turkeys..

but halfway through the production process Dan had to stop the boy to tell him "If you have licked the icing off the cookie - don't use that cookie to make a turkey"

Not to mention the incessant licking of fingers &

(yes-terrible, I know- insert horrified gasp here)

I didn't think the CDC would appreciate the cooties we would spread across the tri-state area.

and we begin:

Girl spread the first glop of icing on the first cookie - and has started licking her fingers already

Boy is surprisingly efficient in the production-line-craft-a-thon

Boy's first turkey is complete -

and notice -we are 4 minutes into crafts, and boy has a glop of chocolate on his cheek that remains there for the rest of the day

girl continues to lick fingers

boy scratches head, insuring hair embedded into at least one of his turkeys

(who actually put her nose onto the cookie)

taking a break to eat some candy corn

very serious business (chocolate glob still on cheek)


Girl isn't quite sure if this candy corn will taste the same -

better try it-just in case

Boy thinks everything is scrumptious

Boy's back to work -

Girl's still eating

This is where I noticed girl was slathering the bottom of her pumpkin with icing

They both stopped mid-craft very serious - and very thirsty

Suddenly -there is a switch -

and boy started the constant licking

and girl got back to work

Poor girl is so overly-sugared I barely recognized her.

I think even she realized she crossed a line in the sand -where should would not be able to have nice manners for the remainder of the day.

and boy realized he can stick his entire icing-coated hand into his mouth.

They tried their best to get back to work & be serious

but then they started to slip away...

girl... has lost her cool.. and is not able to stay at the table a second longer

and boy is a mess

I stopped here only because every single picture I took was blurry..

we have started watching The Incredibles

Boy watches very nicely .. until the end

as soon as the credits start rolling- boy must dance

he doesn't want to - he has to

Leaves, Apples & Rat Noses

Playing in the leaves - and picking apples...

does fall get any better?

they took turns beating each other, burying each other, and chasing each other.
All in all - it was an awesome day

and napping.....

and being silly

and hiding

and apple picking

boy cannot control himself when he comes to an asile

in the library

in the foodstore

and now in the apple orchard

he gets in an aisle - he runs

but girl was a big helper - she's learned how to block the asile

you think she isn't really all that much of a road block

but when boy is pretty well rested - and is having decent manners -

thankfully, this is enough to slow him down

boy couldn't fathom all the apples on the ground being off limits..

he just gazed at all the apples he'd never be allowed to touch

we have A LOT of pictures of boy eating apples..

honestly - he ate his weight in apples that day -

girl was a little peeved they all had skin -

but that wasn't about to slow down the boy
