Back to the Fair!!!!!

We went back to the fair - and this time, we came prepared!
We fed kids before we left, we had diapers for the boy, and more importantly,
we brought cash!
Along with remembering money -comes RIDING RIDES!
at first - girl was a little shy -
but when she saw boy having fun.. she she wasn't about to miss out!

Luckily, I got to squeeze into all the rides with them.
Now that I know THEY know not to jump out mid-ride,
I'm sure our next fair will be more fun for everyone!

teaching them the crucial "HANDS UP"
Girl is showing the very important "Who has 2 thumbs & likes rides?"
THIS GIRL!

after we got off the bee-ride, actually- before it fully stopped
boy turned his head & pointed
"I WANT TO GO ON THAT BIG ROLLERCOASTER"
meaning-the ferris wheel
now good god almighty- if the carni-ness of the plastic slide didn't scare the crap out of me - I don't know what expected with the ferris wheel
I couldn't hold onto the boy tight enough... but he didn't seem to mind -
he loved every second of it
I made a specific point to smile like a champ for the pics -
but later, girl did ask why I was making a sad face on the ride..

I don't know if it was the 1 on 1 daddy time, or the ride -
but the girl was QUITE PLEASED for the whole evening

boy couldn't get over being able to see every roof in the neighborhood
I see where girl gets her long legs......
I tell her she's Annie-Long-Legs, because her dad is Daddy lon... you get the point
Mommy has never been happier to have her feet on the ground
NEXT - - on to the boats!!!!
Who has 2 thumbs and likes boats!!
THIS GUY!

we took one ride on the boats while it was still light out -
and later on, we took a few more cruises.
After the first ride- Dan & I made a specific point to take videos of the take-off's...
they were a spectacular display of where whiplash comes from
(I also made it a point to tape a few screaming kids on the rides - but those are just for me to laugh at ... not blog-worthy)

Kooky Weather

Every spring I forget that the weather is just plain nuts..
some days are 85 degrees & sunny - some days are cold & rainy
and some days are just plain cold

this day was nice enough to take a walk.. so we ventured down to see the horsies
not without injury

next day was cold & rainy - so we romped in puddles

boy is still mastering the smile

another day - we ventured over to see Dionne -
and the kids got to play in dirt
that night, Dave, Dionne, Anna & I went out for a double date to the BIG CITY
Somerville
Dave wouldn't let go of girl's hand -he was a very good stand-in dad for the night

can't let a day go by without a good fit

and because she's so good looking

what type of mother would I be to NOT catch these moments on film!
my future daughter-in-law will love it!

FAIR!!!!!!!
Last night was the fair! and although they looked terrified on the slide-
they both loved it
I, on the other-hand, did not
I was fine the whole time - but as soon as I got to the tippy-top - I sort of realized how carny the whole set up was...
I got over it

the merry-go-round on the other hand...
FABULOUS

even boy enjoyed it
he held on for his dear life - but he had fun!

smooches!

PLAYDATE!

The Chavezes came over on Sunday -
and took EXCELLENT photos of every last shenanigan that took place...
I'll try to condense it :)
but there are still a bunch!
things started off with a nice visit to feed the ladies

you turn your head for a minute - and the kids are in with the ladies..

'Filthy' seems to be girl's newest word...
I'm guessing this is a "Look at my hands - THEY'RE FILTHY!"

so they made their way over to the sandbox

and then into the sandbox lid

and somehow, Emily has sand all over her face
(I wouldn't put it past one of my monsters having something to do with this..)

while Emily showed off her sand,
Anna did her best Vannah-White-tulip-display-pose

next, the boys took a walk

while the girls took a jog

boy broke away from the pack & did a little strutting

Ain't nothing causes a disturbance in the horse-force like some kids!

the horsies seemed to get over it quickly enough

we were sure to invade the neighbor's patch of daffodils

and finally the kids kicked back for a little hammock time

JD is such a nice sharer!!!!!

four-kid hammock-time!
(and it must be said - every one seems to be sinking into Luke-
and his tush is only about 2 inches off the ground...)
make a funny face!

after a day full of happiness & laughing & fun fun fun
when it's time for friends to go home,
no one smiles

Quick game of catch-up...

Boy found a good tree to climb on

I feel like I'm constantly telling him to smile.. he says cheese,
but you really have to wait for the grin

and other times girl just won't stop
chattering long enough to smile

atta girl

I think girl is training to be a secret spy
every time she has a secret for you, it always needs to be decoded
"Birdies need nests to live in"

egg decorating turn into boy decorating

which turned into paper-plate decorating

Easter-morning prep for Dan means washing the car
and any hose-related activity is always invaded..
(yes, girl needed to wear her backpack to wash the car)

quick kid scrub

flash to easter morning..
the easter bunny hid a load of eggs filled with..
what else?!?!
orange tic tacs, of course!
happy kids
(easter pics to come..)
Aunt Cookie got the kids lots of Easter goodies -
included was a big box of chalk
HAPPY KIDS!!!!!!
Again, need to tell the boy to smile..
a little too much smile bub

boy was happy to show me his favorite stick at Nanny's house..
the stick that he knocked his sister across the face with right before easter
he was trying for the holiday-shiner..
we ended up with the holiday-bruised-cheek

aaannnnnnnnnd girl has learned to stay away from the boy with the stick
and watered all of nanny's flowers

and rinsed off very well

and rinsed her brother nicely

and boy was more than happy to rinse me

strawberry girl

and boy's counting skills...
he skips from 6- to 11 (very close!)
although fiveteen is my personal favorite, I do like the way 4 comes after 17
